Natural burials at SANKOTSUYAMA include forest scattering and ocean scattering. Forest scattering allows the individual to continue resting in the same place, allowing the bereaved family to recognize the place as a place to connect their memories. In contrast, ocean scattering involves the remains traveling around the world on ocean currents, creating a stronger sense of traveling to another dimension. As times change, more and more people are considering "grave closure" for various reasons. In addition to mourning the deceased, the remains of ancestors removed during the grave closure can also be scattered. We offer both daytime forest scattering and nighttime ocean scattering, so please choose the plan that best suits your needs.

"Forest scattering" is a natural burial where the remains are returned to nature. It is similar to "tree burial," which involves burial at the base of a tree, but is slightly different. While "tree burial" involves digging a hole in the ground and burying the remains in an urn, "forest scattering" involves grinding the remains into a fine powder beforehand and scattering them in the mountains. The remains are not buried underground, but rather scattered over the ground like the "Grandpa Who Made Flowers Bloom." In the wild, grass grows and bare ground is rarely found, so the white remains are not left in one place. The powdered remains gradually return to the soil as they are exposed to wind and rain. Furthermore, while in a typical "tree burial," the remains are exhumed and interred after a certain number of years, in the case of "forest scattering," the remains cannot be manually retrieved, so they rest there forever. Japan has a long tradition of "mountain worship," which views the entire mountain as a sacred object. "Forest scattering," which allows one to become one with nature, is an ancient Japanese method of transportation, and even includes poems about scattering ashes in the Manyoshu. Scattering ashes can cause anxiety for bereaved families, as the deceased's remains disappear, leaving them with nothing to pray to. Scattering ashes into rivers is not permitted in Japan, so this method seems to be gaining popularity. It is particularly popular as a way to say goodbye to a deceased loved one, and services such as chartering a motorboat or cruiser to scatter ashes offshore are popular. However, the drawbacks of this method include the fact that the ocean is easily affected by weather, which can suddenly result in a cancellation on the scheduled date, and the relatively high cost of chartering a boat. Our company, SANKOTSUYAMA, offers an "Ocean Scattering Plan," which uses our small boat, eliminating the additional cost of chartering a boat. All costs are included in the price. Furthermore, "ocean scattering" does not necessarily require the services of a specialized scattering company. Individuals are not prohibited from scattering powdered ashes into the sea. However, scattering ashes is prohibited near fishing grounds or public beaches due to the risk of causing inconvenience to others and negative publicity, so you must choose your scattering location carefully. Our Ocean Scattering Plan handles everything from pulverization to ocean scattering. Our Ocean Scattering Plans include COLLECTIVE OCEAN SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN and INDIVISUAL OCEAN SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN, in which we handle the scattering on your behalf. We also offer OCEAN SCATTERING CELEMONY ATTEND PLAN, in which family members attend the on-site ceremony. All Ocean Scattering Plans are only scattered in the dark, nighttime hours after sunset, before sunrise. The process begins with the delivery of the ashes via courier. Once you submit your request, please send the ashes via the post office, marking them as "ashes" and paying the shipping fee. As long as the ashes are packaged properly, they can be sent via standard Yu-Pack shipping. While specialized packaging kits for ashes are available on Amazon and other online retailers, a standard Yu-Pack box will also work. If you choose to send the ashes via the post office, you will be responsible for the shipping costs. Once the ashes arrive at our company, we will pulverize them into powder. After that, the ashes will be scattered at a location of your choice. The scattering location will be off the coast of Sagami Bay in the Shonan area or off the coast of Tokyo Bay in the Miura Peninsula area. For the [OCEAN SCATTERING CELEMONY ATTEND PLAN], the scattering location and timing will be discussed. If you would like to keep some of the ashes without scattering them, this can be accommodated within the fee, so please let us know the details.
