| A scattering spot on a small hill overlooking Sagami Bay |
| |
Oiso is located in the south-central part of Kanagawa Prefecture, bordered by Sagami Bay to the south and hills including Mount Koma and Mount Takatori to the north. The area's temperate climate, influenced by warm coastal currents, makes it a comfortable summer and winter resort year-round. From the mid-Meiji period to the early Showa period, Oiso was home to many mansions and villas, including those of prominent figures in the political and business world, including Hirobumi Ito, Shigeru Yoshida, Aritomo Yamagata, Kinmochi Saionji, Shigenobu Okuma, Munemitsu Mutsu, Yanosuke Iwasaki, and Zenjiro Yasuda. While Oiso remains a popular destination for luxury villas, it is easily accessible from other areas, thanks to National Route 1, the JR Tokaido Main Line, the Seisho Bypass, National Route 134, and the Odawara-Atsugi Road (National Route 271). Its location also offers relatively short access from the Tokyo metropolitan area. The Oiso scattering spot is adjacent to a hiking trail and offers a scenic view of Oiso's residential area below and Sagami Bay beyond the forest. There are several hiking trails, but the route that starts with Shoichinaga Murosuke Inari Shrine offers spectacular views of the Shonan region, including Enoshima. Passing Inari and continuing to the summit, you'll reach the scattering spot. It's 1.0 km from Oiso Station on the JR Tokaido Line. The walk takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Open flames are strictly prohibited at this scattering spot due to the risk of forest fires leading to serious accidents. Therefore, incense and cigarettes are prohibited. Please also note that artificial plastic containers and garbage that do not decompose naturally are also prohibited. If you select the "attended scattering plan," the site is accessible by foot from Oiso Station, so please dress appropriately for hiking. The "attended scattering plan" includes a daytime scattering ceremony. Other plans include the "Individual Scattering Agency Plan." With this plan, we will handle the funeral services for the deceased so that they may rest in peace. The scattering site in Oiso only accepts scattering ceremonies during the day. |

For the "FOREST SCATTERING CELEMONY ATTEND PLAN " plan, once you apply, we begin by mailing the ashes via courier. Once you have applied, please send the ashes via the post office, marking them as "ashes" and paying the shipping fee. As long as they are packaged properly, they can be sent via regular Yu-Pack. While special packaging kits for ashes are available on Amazon and other sites, regular Yu-Pack boxes are also acceptable. If you choose to send the ashes via the post office, you will be responsible for the shipping costs. You can also bring them directly to our facility. Picking up the ashes in our private vehicle is an additional fee. Once the ashes arrive at our facility, we will immediately pulverize them into powder. Please understand that once pulverized, the ashes cannot be restored. We will then discuss the location and time of the scattering ceremony with you. This will be communicated via phone or email. Please feel free to ask any questions regarding the details. Please also let us know the number of people attending. As you can see, the day of the scattering ceremony will arrive after several meetings. Since we prepare for the ceremony in advance, please refrain from canceling on the day. We can also accommodate postponements, but only at least one week in advance. On the day, we will meet you at the station nearest to the scattering site. Please dress casually, not formal attire. Once you arrive, the scattering ceremony will begin. The general program will be as follows: cremation of the memorial photo, scattering of ashes (scattering of ashes), scattering of flowers and leaves, bonfire candles, floral tributes, a moment of silence, and commemorative flower planting. Once the ceremony is over, we will return you to the nearest station. There are no restrooms at the scattering site, so please use them beforehand. We will take photographs of the scattering ceremony and send you a digital or paper copy of the video at a later date. Our data will be deleted, so please keep the photos yourself. For the "FOREST SCATTERING CELEMONY ATTEND PLAN," our staff will visit the grave seasonally and offer prayers for the eternal memorial service, but you are free to visit the grave yourself at any time afterward. "Forest scattering" is a natural burial where the remains are returned to nature. It is similar to "tree burial," which involves burial at the base of a tree, but is slightly different. While "tree burial" involves digging a hole in the ground and burying the remains in an urn, "forest scattering" involves grinding the remains into a fine powder beforehand and scattering them in the mountains. The remains are not buried underground, but rather scattered over the ground like the "Grandpa Who Made Flowers Bloom." In the wild, grass grows and bare ground is rarely found, so the white remains are not left in one place. The powdered remains gradually return to the soil as they are exposed to wind and rain. Furthermore, while in a typical "tree burial," the remains are exhumed and interred after a certain number of years, in the case of "forest scattering," the remains cannot be manually retrieved, so they rest there forever. Japan has a long tradition of "mountain worship," which views the entire mountain as a sacred object. "Forest scattering," which allows one to become one with nature, is an ancient Japanese method of transportation, and even includes poems about scattering ashes in the Manyoshu. Scattering ashes can cause anxiety for bereaved families, as the deceased's remains disappear, leaving them with nothing to pray to. However, with "forest scattering," one can imagine the deceased as having become one with the mountain and become a god. If one feels lonely, one can pray to the mountain or enter the mountains to reconnect with their feelings. While the mountain where the ashes are scattered is not considered a "grave" under Japanese law, it can be thought of as a "grave" as we know it. Thinking of it as a larger-scale "grave" may alleviate anxiety. This is where the scattering differs from "ocean scattering," where the ashes are carried away by ocean currents. While "forest scattering" has attracted much attention, every piece of land in Japan is owned by a landowner, and scattering ashes on someone else's land is prohibited. Furthermore, scattering ashes on land owned by the national or local government, or within public facilities, is prohibited. Even if you contact the local government to obtain permission, permission will usually not be granted. This does not apply to the "forest scattering land" provided by our company, as all of the land is owned by our company or group companies.
The SANKOTSUYAMA scattering plan is conducted during the daytime. You can become one with nature in the dappled sunlight of the forest. Because it is a natural mountain, there are many obstacles underfoot that pose a risk of injury, so scattering ceremonies are not held at night. The SANKOTSUYAMA scattering plan includes the FOREST SCATTERING CELEMONY ATTEND PLAN, where a funeral ceremony is held on-site with the bereaved family present; the INDIVISUAL FOREST SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN, where a private ceremony is held without the bereaved family present and the scattering proceedings are reviewed later via photographs; and the most affordable COLLECTIVE FOREST SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN, where you entrust the funeral to us and we handle all the burials. With these plans, we first store the remains in the urn and then pulverize them into powder. Then, we proceed with the scattering (scattering of ashes) step by step. The following three plans are "natural burials with perpetual memorial services," and there are no additional costs, such as management fees, in addition to the scattering of ashes. We offer funeral methods that do not burden the bereaved family, regardless of religion or sect. You can choose a natural burial scattering plan from the following plans depending on your situation. The content of the scattering ceremony on the day will vary depending on the plan, so please check the details. Click on the image to view more details. |

Choose scattering location |
|
|
| |
SANKOTSUYAMA's "natural burial" service focuses on natural scattering in the Shonan area, known as the "holy land of ashes scattering." However, you can also choose the scattering location more precisely. For "forest scattering," we offer scattering in a number of forests in Yokohama, Yokosuka, Miura, Kamakura, Zushi, Hayama, Oiso, Odawara, Hakone, Yamakita, and Sagamihara. If you specify, we can scatter the ashes in your chosen forest. All land is owned by our company, so it can be used for generations to come. Our "FOREST SCATTERING PLAN" include three types: "COLLECTIVE FOREST SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN", "INDIVISUAL FOREST SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN" and "FOREST SCATTERING CELEMONY ATTEND PLAN". The affordable "COLLECTIVE FOREST SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN" is a simple plan that simply involves sending the ashes via Yu-Pack. The "INDIVISUAL FOREST SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN" allows you to leave the funeral arrangements to us, allowing you to choose your preferred scattering location. With the "FOREST SCATTERING CELEMONY ATTEND PLAN" , you will be able to attend the local scattering ceremony. However, even after scattering, you can visit the site at any time, 365 days a year, allowing you to use the site just like a regular grave. Unlike ocean scattering, forest scattering allows for true "return to the earth." All "Forest Scattering" plans are natural burials with perpetual memorial services. Unlike typical "tree burials," the remains are not transferred to a communal grave after a certain period of time. There are no subsequent costs, such as management fees, so you can rest assured. Regarding the specific scattering location, please note that we do not provide detailed information on our website that could identify the location due to concerns about negative publicity. Furthermore, with the "OCEAN SCATTERING PLAN" , we scatter ashes in Tokyo Bay from the Miura Peninsula and Sagami Bay from the Shonan area. We offer three "OCEAN SCATTERING PLAN", "COLLECTIVE OCEAN SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN", "INDIVISUAL OCEAN SCATTERING AGENCY PLAN" and "OCEAN SCATTERING CELEMONY ATTEND PLAN" . The unique feature of the "Ocean Scattering" ceremony at SANKOTSUYAMAn is that it is only held at night, after sunset. Unlike the daytime sea, the "Ocean Scattering" takes place in the dark, creating a mystical atmosphere. In any case, since this is the final resting place of the deceased, we believe that a quiet environment where they can rest in peace is desirable. If you have a preference for the scattering location, please let us know. |
